About the funder

The VDI Verein Deutscher Ingenieure e.V. is Germany's largest technical-scientific professional association, headquartered in Düsseldorf. Since its founding in 1856, it has represented the interests of engineers and natural scientists at local, regional, and national levels. With approximately 130,000 members, the VDI offers a broad network for professional exchange, career orientation, and continuing education. Through subsidiaries such as the VDI Verlag, the VDI Wissensforum, and the VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH, the VDI supports knowledge transfer, research, and the development of innovative technologies. Additionally, it fosters dialogue with politics, industry, and science, and develops guidelines, standards, and recommendations on technical as well as energy- and environment-related topics.

Mission & Vision

The VDI is committed to harnessing all intellectual forces in technology for collective action. The VDI aims to multiply engineering knowledge, foster talents, and provide a platform for interdisciplinary exchange to advance solutions for the challenges of digitalization, energy transition, mobility, and climate protection.

Target groups

The VDI is aimed at engineers of all disciplines as well as students and graduates of technical and scientific degree programs. In addition, academics from other disciplines and companies can become extraordinary or supporting members and benefit from the association's offerings. Members gain access to regional district associations, national working groups, specialist media, further training, and events. With its junior initiatives, the VDI also supports schools, teachers, and educational organizations to inspire enthusiasm for technology at an early stage and to secure the next generation of technical professionals.
