About the funder
The VGB RESEARCH FOUNDATION is a private law foundation established in 1970 to promote collaborative research among electricity and heat producers. Operating as a non-profit and active foundation, it has supported around 450 projects within the framework of the VGB research program to date, with a total funding volume exceeding 275 million euros. The foundation's governing bodies are the Board of Trustees and the Advisory Board; ongoing administration is handled by the VGB office. Each year, the foundation honors outstanding achievements of young graduates with the VGB Innovation Award. Funding is primarily provided through contributions from regular VGB member companies as well as public funds.

Mission & Vision
The VGB RESEARCH FOUNDATION aims to bring together manufacturers, operators, universities, research institutes, and the public sector in collaborative research to develop practical solutions for power and heat generation as well as storage. It is committed to neutral management of research projects and promotes the transfer of results into industrial application.
Target groups
The target group of the VGB RESEARCH FOUNDATION consists of vgbe member companies from the energy generation sector as well as universities and research institutes that collaborate on innovative projects in the fields of electricity and heat generation, energy storage, and the safe decommissioning of plants. Funding is provided to project sponsors who aim to develop and implement practical solutions for plant operations in the short and medium term.
