Description

The vgbe RESEARCH FOUNDATION continuously supports interdisciplinary research collaborations throughout Germany aimed at the generation and storage of electricity and heat. Projects in the fields of hydrogen, hydropower, wind energy, gas, solid fuels, and nuclear energy are funded. The goal is the development of practical and short- to medium-term implementable solutions, where manufacturers and operators of energy plants pool their expertise and financial resources together with universities, research institutes, and public institutions. The funding structure is based on project-related contributions from member companies as well as public funds, with the foundation’s board deciding on their allocation.

Eligible to apply are companies, educational institutions, and public bodies with membership in vgbe, who wish to carry out projects in cooperation with at least one other research partner from industry, science, or the public sector. Funding is granted in the form of subsidies, and applications can be submitted at any time. Key evaluation criteria are the practical relevance of the research project as well as its short- and medium-term feasibility in plant operation. Thus, the funding is particularly aimed at consortia that already have established networks and technical expertise and want to rapidly transfer their research results into industrial applications.
