About the funder

On the occasion of its 111th anniversary, the Housing Cooperative Herrenhausen founded the non-profit WGH-Herrenhausen Foundation in 2014. Its purpose is to consolidate the cooperative's social commitment and to promote socially valuable projects in Hanover and the surrounding neighborhoods. The focus is on youth welfare through project funding, elderly care through the expansion of the "Service à la Carte" service offerings, as well as support for disadvantaged groups. The foundation finances and operationally supports initiatives that strengthen community cohesion and advance neighborhood development.

Mission & Vision

The WGH-Herrenhausen Foundation is committed to promoting social solidarity in residential neighborhoods. Our mission is to strengthen community cohesion, foster connections between people, and convey shared values. Through targeted support of projects, we aim to assist children and young people in their personal development, enable participation for socially disadvantaged groups and the elderly, and thereby create a vibrant, livable neighborhood.

Target groups

Our funding programs are aimed at children and adolescents, particularly those from educationally disadvantaged, socially vulnerable, or migration-affected families, to promote equal opportunities; seniors and single individuals suffering from loneliness, through neighborhood assistance services and social community programs; as well as social institutions and associations that implement projects for education, inclusion, and local supply in Hanover and the surrounding region.
