About the funder

The Winzig Foundation is an independent foundation under civil law based in Wuppertal, founded in 2002 by entrepreneur Rüdiger Theis and recognized by the foundation supervisory authority in 2003. It exclusively pursues charitable purposes and is authorized to issue donation receipts. The foundation supports science and research, education and upbringing, as well as art and culture within the framework of interdisciplinary exploration of the human mind and the pursuit of social innovation both domestically and internationally. To ensure the long-term security of its projects, it seeks private and corporate donors, cooperation partners, and public funds. Since 2008, it has been a co-shareholder of Wiesemann & Theis GmbH.

Mission & Vision

The Winzig Foundation is committed to promoting secure bonds between parents and children in early childhood and achieving sustainable impact in families and society through "small aids for successful lives." Our goal is to support projects and research approaches that interdisciplinarily link aspects of education, upbringing, science, and cultural participation, thereby providing positive impulses for social innovation.

Target groups

The funding programs of the Winzig Foundation are aimed at: parents and families with children, especially those aged 0–3 years in the Wuppertal area; professionals in the under-3 sector, midwives, and childminders; daycare centers, primary schools, as well as artists implementing early childhood education in Wuppertal; and academic researchers seeking to apply for a doctoral scholarship in the field of interdisciplinary humanities and social sciences research.
