The Bürgerstiftung Wipperfürth is an independent, non-profit foundation "by citizens for citizens," founded on September 1, 2002, and officially recognized under the Foundation Act of North Rhine-Westphalia. Its goal is to enhance the attractiveness and quality of life in the city of Wipperfürth and it supports projects in the fields of art & culture, local heritage & social affairs, as well as youth & seniors. As the legal sponsor, the foundation includes the Wipperfürther Tafel, the Kunstbahnhof, the Alte Drahtzieherei, and WippKultur. Donations and membership fees are used for independent projects in youth and elderly care, culture, leisure, urban maintenance, landscape beautification, and social support.
