About the funder

The Central Institute of Mental Health (ZI) in Mannheim is a leading research institution and clinic in the fields of psychiatry, psychotherapy, child and adolescent psychiatry, psychosomatics, and addiction medicine. As an interdisciplinary center, the ZI combines basic and clinical research under one roof. Each year, numerous patients and study participants take part in innovative studies. In addition to first-class care, the ZI offers comprehensive outpatient and inpatient treatment services, emergency care, and specialized outpatient clinics. A particular focus is placed on translating neuroscientific findings into individualized therapeutic approaches. Mission & Vision

The mission of the ZI is to investigate the causes and mechanisms of mental illnesses and to develop new, personalized forms of therapy based on these findings. With a translational research approach, we integrate neurobiological imaging, biomarker research, and experimental psychopharmacology and psychotherapy research to enhance prevention and to make treatments as individualized and effective as possible. At the same time, we are committed to education, destigmatization, and the training and continuing education of professionals.
