About the funder

The Zukunftsstiftung Südraum Leipzig is a non-profit foundation based in Borna (Saxony). Founded in 1999 with an initial capital of 100,000 DM, it aims to promote research, innovation, and regional development in the southern Leipzig area. Its core task is the funding of model initiatives with a pioneering function for follow-up projects in the fields of information and communication, energy and environment, region and innovation, as well as new construction. In addition, the foundation annually awards a prize for scientific theses and serves as a networking platform and process facilitator for interdisciplinary and international cooperation.

Mission & Vision

The Zukunftsstiftung Südraum Leipzig is committed to initiating and supporting projects that have a positive ripple effect and serve as a catalyst for business and municipalities. It builds cooperation and communication networks among regional stakeholders, promotes innovative collaborative projects between small and medium-sized enterprises and research institutions, and supports regional development through the awarding of prizes and funding grants.

Target groups

Project sponsors and initiatives in the southern Leipzig area are supported, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), research institutions and universities, institutions, associations and interest groups as multipliers for technology transfer, young academics within the framework of the award for scientific theses, as well as municipalities and municipal administrations aiming to implement innovative model solutions.
