Description

The funding for waste separation containers in public spaces in Lower Austria supports Lower Austrian municipalities and municipal associations in making waste separation in public areas more efficient and reducing littering in nature. Investments in micro-collection islands that accommodate at least residual waste, packaging (yellow bin), waste paper, and mixed colored glass are eligible for funding. These separation stations must be labeled and color-coded according to the statewide uniform designs. The aim of this measure is to strengthen the state's environmental and climate protection strategy and to promote a clean environment as well as awareness of resource management.

The funding is provided as a non-repayable grant of up to 10% of the eligible investment costs, but capped at €10,000 per year per applicant. Eligible applicants are public institutions in the form of municipalities and municipal associations of Lower Austria. A prerequisite for funding is the submission of an application prior to the project start, including a completed application form with a tabular cost breakdown and cost estimates. Funding covers the acquisition of the waste separation containers, the associated stands or holders, as well as the required labeling. The start date of this ongoing funding initiative is March 1, 2025. Payment is made after project completion and submission of all accounting documents along with photo documentation. This measure makes a significant contribution to waste prevention and supports municipalities in implementing sustainable environmental projects.
