AGO – Young for Old (Stiftung Sternenstaub)

The program "AGO – Young for Old" by the Sternenstaub Foundation specifically promotes the social participation of older people in Munich, Bavaria. Public institutions and non-profit organizations are invited to implement projects supporting needy and lonely seniors. Funding is provided for an organization-supported concept in which students from various disciplines regularly visit seniors on a mini-job basis to offer time, attention, and personal care. In addition to conversations in the familiar home environment, activities also include excursions, café and cinema visits, as well as cultural offerings that bring joy and variety to everyday life. The funding is provided as a grant and can be applied for throughout the year.

With "AGO – Young for Old," the Foundation pursues the following purpose: to strengthen the joy of life and self-esteem of the older generation as well as to give back respect and appreciation. Student caregivers enable new intergenerational contacts through individual visits and joint events, which reduce isolation and strengthen democratic engagement. Lonely seniors in Munich thus receive attention and respect that are often denied to them in old age. Applications can be submitted continuously to support the lively networking of young and old and to make a sustainable contribution to social cohesion.
