Reading Mentors Initiative

The Reading Mentors Initiative in Thuringia strengthens the reading skills of young people and specifically promotes their integration into school and society. As an ongoing grant program, this offer is exclusively aimed at non-profit organizations that initiate or support reading mentorships. The focus is particularly on disadvantaged and integration-needy children and adolescents, who gain access to books, reading exercises, and individualized support formats through dedicated mentors. Through collaboration with local institutions and professionals, a network is created that sustainably improves educational opportunities and contributes to reducing social inequalities.

The funding project supports measures in the fields of education, child and youth development, migration, as well as vocational training and further education, thereby contributing to greater equal opportunities in working and social life. Grant funds enable the acquisition of reading books, school supplies, and educational support materials. Additionally, workshops, reading events, and training sessions for reading mentors, as well as informational events for parents and teachers, can be realized. Continuous support from the PhosZoe Foundation – Light and Life provides non-profit organizations with planning security and motivation to develop and implement innovative reading promotion projects. This creates a sustainable model that inspires enthusiasm for reading, increases educational success, and contributes in the long term to integration and career prospects.
