Description

The Thuringian Volunteer Foundation supports existing and new initiatives throughout Thuringia by providing fixed-amount grants to non-profit associations, federations, foundations, as well as public bodies. The primary objective is to strengthen, make visible, and secure voluntary engagement in the long term. A wide range of measures are funded – from event costs to training, further education, and continuing education measures, as well as public relations work and innovative model projects. Prerequisites include non-profit status according to §§ 52–55 AO, proof of secured overall financing, and residence or exercise of voluntary activity in the Free State of Thuringia. Recipients of funding include, among others, associations, churches, recognized religious communities, initiative groups, as well as districts and independent cities. Selection is based on the contribution to promoting volunteerism, sustainability, and regional relevance in Thuringia.

Application deadlines depend on membership in umbrella organizations: member associations of the LIGA of Free Welfare Care, the State Sports Association, and the State Youth Ring of Thuringia submit their documents by November 30 of the previous year; all other organizations by June 30 of the current year. Funds are disbursed as fixed amounts on a project basis and are oriented to the population size of the districts or independent cities. After approval, close monitoring takes place through usage reports including a factual report and numerical accounting. This funding program enables non-profit organizations to effectively implement their commitment to democracy, education, and social cohesion, thereby sustainably strengthening volunteerism in Thuringia.
