Recognition Award for Wedding Anniversaries

The recognition grant for wedding anniversaries honors long-standing partnerships in Vienna with a financial award. Married couples celebrating their 50th, 60th, 65th, 67.5th, 70th, 72.5th, or 75th wedding anniversary may apply for a one-time monetary benefit as Austrian citizens or persons granted equivalent status. A prerequisite for the award is a registered primary residence in Vienna as well as the continuation of the marriage at the time of the anniversary. The aim of this distinction is to highlight significant life achievements of married couples and to promote their stability within the social fabric of the city.

From January 1, 2026, applications can be submitted continuously without a deadline. To complete the application, proof of citizenship (passport or identity card), birth certificates of both partners, current registration certificates, and the marriage certificate are required. The responsible municipal department reviews these documents to verify that all requirements are met and decides on the disbursement of the financial benefit.
