Description

The funding enables the acquisition of outstanding artworks in the field of visual arts in Styria and is granted as a direct subsidy. It specifically supports the expansion of public or institutional collections through the purchase of contemporary works. In doing so, it contributes to the appreciation and visibility of visual arts in the region as well as to the sustainable promotion of Styrian artists. The funding is continuously available and applies from a complete offer that includes technical details, year of creation, size, illustration, and an artistic curriculum vitae. Eligible costs are exclusively the purchase price of the artwork; the legal basis is the Styrian Culture and Art Promotion Act 2005 in its currently applicable version.

Eligible applicants are artists who were born in Styria or have been living and working in Styria for at least five years, or who can demonstrate a close connection to the federal state. For the application, a written offer with a detailed description must be submitted to assess the uniqueness and quality of the works. The program thus aims to strengthen local artists and promote the cultural identity of Styria in the long term. The responsible Department 9 Culture, Europe, Sport of the Styrian Provincial Government handles the review and disbursement of the funding; the submission period is unlimited. Interested parties can make use of information and networking events as well as workshops to optimally utilize the funding process and sustainably integrate art acquisitions into their collection strategy.
