Annuity grants/ongoing subsidies for the renovation of multi-family residential buildings

The annuity grant for the renovation of multi-family houses in Vienna supports comprehensive preservation and improvement measures as well as the upgrading of residential units within the framework of base renovation projects. Developers, property owners, housing companies, cooperatives, as well as public and non-profit institutions can apply for a direct, non-repayable grant. With a funding period of 20 years, this measure contributes to the long-term preservation of value and enhancement of living quality. The funding can be combined with regional loans and offers maximum planning security through the unlimited application deadline: construction may only begin after written confirmation of the funding or approval for early commencement of construction.

Eligible for funding are preservation measures on the building fabric, energy-efficient and living quality improvements, as well as the upgrading of apartments in equipment categories C or D – for base renovations, at least one third of the units must belong to these categories. A prerequisite for approval is a positive inspection report from the Wohnfonds Wien as well as a high proportion of improvement measures. Required documents include the completed application form, the completion guide, and the inspection report. The grant amount depends on the extent of modernization, whereby the subsidy is paid out as an annuity grant and extends over the entire project duration of up to 240 months.
