Description
Since 2023, the State of Burgenland has supplemented federally funded tourism investments with state-level grants in close cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy (BMAW). Small and medium-sized enterprises as well as young entrepreneurs in the tourism and leisure industry in Burgenland who are members of the Austrian Economic Chamber can implement capitalizable tangible and intangible projects in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energies, environmental and nature conservation, digitalization, regional development, and consulting. One-time, non-repayable grants cover up to 10% of eligible sustainable investment costs and up to 12.5% for start-ups or business takeovers. Applications must be submitted exclusively before the start of the project via the OeHT customer portal; the application period runs from July 2, 2024, to December 31, 2027.
With this follow-up funding, the State of Burgenland aims to strengthen the competitiveness and resilience of tourism enterprises in the long term. Selection is based on criteria such as contribution to sustainability, strengthening of the regional economic strength, job creation, and quality of the business concept. Eligible expenses include both tangible investments (buildings, machinery, equipment) and intangible costs (software, consulting). Among other documents, a current energy certificate, a detailed project description, a financing concept, and the Burgenland country annex must be submitted with the application. Applicants in Burgenland thus receive targeted support to implement future-proof, climate-friendly, and digitally supported offerings and to sustainably consolidate the tourism location.
