Description

The seed funding from the Georg-August-University Göttingen Foundation supports collaborative projects and ERC proposals in Lower Saxony through short-term grants of up to €40,000 per project. The aim is to optimize the preparation of funding applications and increase the chances of success by providing resources for scientific staff, student assistants, teaching assignments, workshops, and business trips. Invitations to external experts are also eligible for funding, while hospitality costs are excluded. Allocation takes place within a maximum of six months after a positive decision and can be applied for at any time via an electronic form. Prior consultation with the Research and Transfer Department is required to appropriately coordinate the individual funding needs.

Eligible applicants are representatives of all institutions of the University of Göttingen, particularly spokespersons of collaborative projects whose planned initiatives have not yet commenced. Applications are submitted informally via the electronic application form of the Research and Transfer Department; proof of consultation must be attached. Continuous submission is possible, with the foundation board usually deciding within a few days through a circulation procedure. The grant covers a project period of six months and is aimed at public and educational institutions. In this way, the scientific community of the University of Göttingen receives the necessary resources early on to develop high-quality funding applications and plan strategically.
