Work Fellowships of the City of Vienna in the Cultural Sector

The working grants of the City of Vienna in the cultural sector enable professional artists and cultural practitioners from Vienna to focus on the further development and completion of innovative projects in seven disciplines: Visual Arts & Media Arts, Performing Arts (Performance, Theater), Film, Literature, Drama, and Composition. Up to twelve grants are awarded annually, each with a funding amount of €18,000. The program supports production-independent, long-term working processes, research projects, and artistically profound, transdisciplinary research processes. The grants have no time limit and can be applied for continuously.

Eligible to apply are adults with a completed relevant degree or proven professional activity, as well as a main residence in Vienna for at least three years. Applications must include a detailed project description, a curriculum vitae, proof of degree, and proof of residence. Submission deadlines are determined according to the funding guidelines of MA 7 Culture and are announced annually. Through this working grant, recipients receive a financial basis to intensify artistic processes, explore new topics, and execute final works with high quality. The initiative strengthens the creative diversity in Vienna and ensures that new cultural impulses arise and are sustainably anchored.
