Work Fellowships of the City of Vienna in the Cultural Sector

The City of Vienna Work Grants in the Cultural Sector annually offer twelve work grants of €18,000 each for a duration of 12 months in seven artistic disciplines – Visual Arts and Media Arts, Performing Arts (Performance, Theater), Film, Literature, Drama, and Composition. The aim of the funding is the further development or completion of selected artistic projects and long-term work processes. The full funding provides financial security for one year and creates space to intensively advance creative endeavors. The awards are granted annually based on city council resolutions and are equally aimed at innovative forms of expression as well as established artists who can already present a representative portfolio of work.

Eligible for funding are private individuals living and working in Vienna with proven artistic activity in the respective discipline. Applications can be submitted by artists and cultural practitioners who can demonstrate residence in Vienna and provide a convincing project description. Selection is made by experts from the Cultural Department of the City of Vienna (MA 7), taking into account quality, diversity, and inclusion. The funding supports both new projects and already initiated work processes to sustainably strengthen artistic developments in the respective fields and further expand Vienna’s cultural diversity.
