Through the assistance services in accordance with § 12 K-ChG, people with mental illnesses are provided with the necessary support for a self-determined life in society. Funding is provided for personal assistance hours, for example, to manage daily life, independent living, and social participation.

Description
Within the framework of § 12 K-ChG, the state of Carinthia continuously provides grants for non-profit organizations that offer assistance services for people with mental illnesses. The aim of this funding is to support affected individuals living independently through personal assistance hours in managing daily life, autonomous living, and social participation. Since January 1, 2023, the funds can be applied for indefinitely and are available in the thematic areas of Social Affairs, Health, as well as Work & Social Affairs. Eligible for funding are exclusively organizations with professional expertise in the field of mental health, based in Carinthia, and having concluded a contract with the Office of the Carinthian State Government, Department 5 – Health and Care.
The funding targets people with mental illness who can prove their main residence or place of stay in Carinthia (or, in cases of homelessness, present a registration law confirmation according to § 19a) and who meet the personal requirements according to § 5 K-ChG. Austrian citizenship, entitlement to asylum, or lawful residence of at least five years are prerequisites. Costs for individual or group assistance services that exceed the existing hourly quota of the contracting partners are eligible for funding. Applications are submitted directly to the selected contracting partners. Through this support, people with mental illnesses are enabled to sustainably strengthen their self-determination and promote their integration into social life.
