Description
The assistance services for participation in social life in Carinthia support people with intellectual and/or multiple disabilities as well as persons with physical and/or sensory impairments who receive care allowance, enabling them to lead the most self-determined life possible within the family environment or in an independent living arrangement. According to § 12 of the Carinthian Equal Opportunities Act, personal assistance, leisure and family assistance, as well as mobile residential and everyday support, are funded to enhance individual quality of life and enable active participation in social life. The funding measure is aimed at non-profit organizations and public institutions in the fields of social affairs, health, and work & social affairs and is continuously available as a grant with a funding rate of 50%. The maximum project duration is 12 months, with the approval period covering one calendar year each time.
A prerequisite for the grant is meeting the definition of disability (§ 2 K-ChG) and the personal criteria (§ 5 K-ChG), the ability to provide guidance in personal assistance, as well as the use exclusively outside of school, work, or employment hours and not concurrently with other K-ChG offers. Assistance recipients enjoy freedom of choice among the state’s contracted partners, and the application is submitted through the chosen assistance service provider. Eligible expenses include costs for personal assistance hours, assistance service provisions, as well as measures for quality assurance and evaluation. Application documents include – in addition to the funding application – a specialist medical report or corresponding proof of disability, as well as income verification (e.g., income tax or pension notice, payslip, property value assessment, AMS confirmation, social insurance benefit statement, maintenance proof). The regular application for the following year takes place each November; submissions during the year are possible.
