Description
The funding program for assisted reproduction in Thuringia grants non-repayable subsidies for in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Participants receive state funding of 25% up to a maximum of 50% of the remaining personal contribution for the 1st to 4th treatment cycle. The maximum funding amount per cycle is up to €1,800. A prerequisite is that the reproductive medical treatment is carried out in Thuringia or in an adjacent federal state and has not yet begun before redeeming the first prescription. Applications for the grant are continuously submitted to the Thuringian Foundation HandinHand and must be submitted before the start of each treatment.
Funding is provided for heterosexual, same-sex female, or diverse couples as well as partnerships with a shared primary residence in Thuringia. The age limits are at least 25 and at most 42 years for the woman, and at most 50 years for the man. Only costs that, according to the treatment and cost plan, are incurred as a personal contribution for IVF/ICSI are considered; material and administrative costs as well as special additional services (e.g., cryopreservation, assisted hatching, or blastocyst culture) are excluded. For the application, among other documents, the completed application form, a current cost and treatment plan, a valid ID card or registration certificate, proof of partnership status, a counseling confirmation by an independent physician, and the health insurance certificate of cost coverage must be submitted. After positive review, a funding commitment including a payment request follows.
