Description

The Deutsch-Nordic Burse Foundation supports enrolled students at universities in Kiel by providing 87 affordable housing units in an international student residence directly on the Kiel Fjord. The offer is aimed at individuals from Germany, the Nordic and Baltic countries, as well as international prospective students who value intercultural exchange. The modern single rooms (12–16 sqm) are part of homely corridor communities with spacious kitchen and sanitary areas. Additionally, communal facilities such as a library, computer room, cinema room, music and fitness room, as well as recreational options (table tennis, billiards, canoes, and more) are available. The aim of the funding is to create affordable living conditions and to promote international coexistence within Schleswig-Holstein.

Applications are possible semi-annually on February 1st and August 1st of each semester; beyond that, interested parties are placed on a waiting list. Enrollment at a Kiel university is a prerequisite. Allocation is made by lottery until the respective deadline, thereafter via the waiting list. For the application, a completed admission form (online or PDF) as well as the current enrollment certificate must be submitted. The type of funding granted is a subsidy in the form of a subsidized rental agreement. The continuously open funding opportunities ensure that placement also takes place outside the lottery procedures. Interested parties will be notified promptly about the allocation of places after the deadline. Eligible applicants can find all necessary documents and information directly from the management of the Deutsch-Nordic Burse Foundation in Kiel.
