Description
The investment subsidy for elevator installations in Viennese multi-family residential buildings supports owners, cooperatives, and public institutions in the installation or addition as well as the safety-related retrofitting of passenger elevators. With a grant of up to 35 % of the recognized expenses, the City of Vienna contributes to sustainably improving accessibility and living comfort in existing buildings. The assessment basis is limited to a maximum of €30,000 for three generally accessible stops and €7,000 for each additional stop. Funding applications can be submitted continuously without a deadline since May 1, 2021, provided the property is in proper maintenance condition and the elevator has at least three generally accessible entry points.
Interested participants must submit the application to the Municipal Department 50 before the execution of the measures and include current documentation, including land register excerpt, topography (rent and owner list), required powers of attorney, as well as existing plans, construction orders, and cost estimates. Eligible for funding are both the installation or addition of new elevators and the technical retrofitting of existing systems. A prerequisite for approval is that construction and conversion costs (plus financing costs) cannot be covered by more than 80 % by the projected revenues over the next five years – except for elevators for people with special needs. This long-term program aims to modernize the cityscape and enhance the quality of living for all age groups and mobility levels.
