Description

The annually awarded August Schärttner Prize of the Sparkassen Sports Foundation Main-Kinzig honors outstanding voluntary commitment by instructors and coaches in sports clubs within the Main-Kinzig sports district. With an endowment of €1,500 and a certificate, this honorary award recognizes individuals who have imparted sporting, social, and democratic values free of charge over many years. The funding program targets privately engaged instructors and coaches in clubs affiliated with the Hessian State Sports Association and emphasizes their role model function and sustainable participation in cultural, social, and sporting projects in the Hesse region.

Eligible for the award are volunteers who have not previously received other financial support and who demonstrate exceptional dedication in training operations, youth work, or the organization of internal club events. Evaluation criteria particularly include the longevity of the commitment, the personal role model function, and the tangible impact on social cohesion and democratic coexistence. The award is granted upon the recommendation of the board of the Sparkassen Sports Foundation Main-Kinzig, in coordination with the respective clubs, and takes place in a ceremonial setting to publicly honor the tireless efforts of the awardees and to inspire further voluntary activities.
