Description

The foreign scholarships for Fine Arts and Film offered by the City of Graz annually provide two visual artists and filmmakers the opportunity to realize an artistic project abroad. Each scholarship offers a grant of €5,000; the timeframe and destination country can be arranged flexibly. The program is aimed both at artists residing in Graz with a verified connection to Graz (place of birth, residence, or main area of work) and at international creatives who present or document their work in Graz. The goal is to gain new impulses from the stay abroad, strengthen artistic networks, and ideally initiate follow-up projects through reciprocal visits.

The selection is based on artistic quality, public presentation or comprehensive documentation of the resulting works, and the connection to Graz for domestic applicants. Applications must be submitted by January 15 of the award year at the latest; the exact deadline will be published on the Culture Server. Application documents to be submitted include: the completed scholarship form, a motivation statement, a biography, a list of previous exhibitions, as well as any existing catalogs or press reports. Applicants from Graz must additionally specify their desired country of stay. Scholarship recipients commit to publicly presenting the results or documenting them in an activity report with artistic interim results within one year of the award. The full funding rate of 100% and transparent allocation according to defined guidelines ensure fair conditions for all participating creatives.
