Description

The foreign scholarship of the state of Carinthia is aimed at visual artists with a birth or professional connection to Carinthia and offers a six-month studio apartment in Paris. The programs, announced every two years, are awarded by an independent jury and focus on artistic development as well as cross-border networking within the European art scene. The funding covers studio rent and a monthly living allowance, while travel and material costs are not covered. The terms are divided into January–June and July–December, with artistic ambitions centered on continuity, interculturality, and avant-garde approaches. As a non-repayable grant without legal entitlement, the scholarship is intended to enable committed artists to realize planned projects in the inspiring environment of Paris and to sustainably strengthen their own practice.

Participation requires a public application process, which demands a fully completed, signed online application including a CV, portfolio, and detailed project description. The submitted project must meet at least one of the following content criteria: continuity, interculturality, unconventional or avant-garde approach, cultural sustainability, inclusion of new media and technologies, or gender aspect. Furthermore, scholarship holders are responsible for paying operating costs at the Cité Internationale des Arts and for organizing their own health and accident insurance. Rejection of projects already funded or completed is mandatory, and in unforeseeable circumstances, the obligation to cover costs remains. Submissions are limited to one deadline per call, with application deadlines announced in the year prior to the funding periods. The funds are granted exclusively as a non-repayable subsidy without legal entitlement.
