Funding objective
The aim of the funding is to support the acquisition of language skills by young people with a migration background as well as young asylum seekers with a good prospect of staying at Bavarian general education schools between the first and tenth grades, thereby enabling their prompt integration.

- Confirmed need for German language support beyond regular school support

Description
The funding program "Extracurricular Homework Assistance with a Focus on German Language Support" of the Free State of Bavaria is aimed at school-age children and adolescents with a migration background as well as asylum seekers with a good prospect of staying, in grades 1 to 10 at general education schools. The funding offers, in addition to existing school-based German support classes, courses, or transition classes, individual homework supervision to specifically reduce language deficits and sustainably strengthen participation in lessons. A flat rate of €15 per hour is granted per group; from the seventh participant onwards, the flat rate increases by €1.50 per person and hour. Applications can be submitted continuously without fixed deadlines, and the program can be supported for up to four years. A prerequisite is a lawful and permanent residence in Bavaria or a good prospect of staying for asylum seekers, as well as a school confirmation of the support needs beyond the regular offer.
Private individuals acting as teaching staff submit the application to the Government of Middle Franconia. Required documents include, among others, the school’s confirmation of additional support needs, copies of the child’s passport and residence permit or those of the non-German-speaking parent, and, if applicable, the expellee ID card according to § 15 BVFG. The goal is rapid linguistic integration to enable young people to actively participate in social and school life. The funding is provided under the guidelines for social counseling, care, and integration of people with a migration background (Counseling and Integration Guidelines – BIR) and is non-repayable.
