Description
The H. Wilhelm Schaumann Foundation honors outstanding doctoral achievements in the field of animal nutrition every two years with a prize of €1,000. This award recognizes the scientific quality and originality of completed dissertations at German-speaking universities in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Postdoctoral researchers and doctoral candidates may be nominated by the directors of relevant institutes. The award ceremony takes place during the annual meeting of the Society for Nutritional Physiology and offers the recipients valuable public recognition as well as financial support for their further scientific careers.
Eligible for funding are public and private university institutes for animal nutrition, each of which may submit one dissertation for application. The selection is based on the scientific excellence of the work, documented by a letter of recommendation from the institute’s management and a copy of the dissertation. The prize payment is made at full funding rate, so that outstanding works are financed without any personal contribution. The award aims not only to promote individual top-level research but also to strengthen and make the scientific junior staff visible in the long term. Specific submission deadlines will be announced by the foundation in due time, allowing institutes to prepare their nominations within the deadline.
