aws i2 Business Angels is an independent, nationwide platform of Austria Wirtschaftsservice Gesellschaft mbH (aws) that connects innovative start-ups with experienced business angel investors. The goal is to network promising start-ups with financially strong partners through a structured screening and matching process, thereby sustainably strengthening Austria as an innovation location. The continuously available funding is aimed at founders and companies of all sizes, especially SMEs and start-ups that have demonstrably acquired initial paying test customers and developed a (highly) scalable product or service with a clear unique selling proposition. With a capital requirement between EUR 100,000 and EUR 1 million and a focus on large or emerging markets, the program offers tailored investment opportunities for both parties.

Interested start-ups can register and apply at any time via aws Connect. The application requires submitting an investment summary as well as a pitch deck or pitch video. Selection is based on clearly defined criteria such as market validation, degree of innovation, and scalability. After registration, participants receive feedback within 14 days and benefit from contact facilitation to a pool of over 400 active investors. The connecting service also promotes co-investment opportunities and invites participants to regular networking and pitch events to enable personal encounters and exchanges between founders and investors. In this way, aws i2 Business Angels makes an important contribution to the long-term financing and successful implementation of innovative projects in Austria.
