Funding objective
LISA – Life Science Austria offers tailored support for founders and start-ups in the life sciences sector at every stage of development, strengthens the life sciences clusters in Austria, and increases the international visibility of Austrian companies and research institutions. Start-up projects and early-stage start-ups can receive comprehensive financial and advisory support through deep tech funding programs such as aws Preseed and aws Seedfinancing.

Description
The aws LISA – Life Science Austria program is aimed at founders and existing companies in the life sciences sector who wish to implement innovative projects in biotechnology, medical technology, diagnostics, or related disciplines in Austria. As a nationwide funding initiative, aws LISA offers a combination of grants, consulting services, and internationalization support. In addition to closing financing gaps, deep tech instruments such as aws Preseed and aws Seedfinancing are available to financially and conceptually support start-up projects and early-stage start-ups at every development phase. A prerequisite for funding is activity in the life sciences sector and the contribution of at least 10% equity by the shareholders. The maximum funding amount is up to €889,000, with a gender bonus of a 90% funding rate even up to €1,000,000.
The goal of aws LISA is to strengthen the Austrian life sciences clusters and increase the international visibility of domestic research institutions and start-ups. Over a period of 24 to 60 months, participants receive comprehensive consulting on business models, structuring, business plan development, financing, and patent applications. With ongoing submission opportunities until December 31, 2027, projects can be started and developed flexibly. aws LISA also serves as a one-stop shop for the international market entry of Austrian life science companies: whether participation in leading trade fairs, networking in clusters, or individual marketing measures – the program promotes the sustainable establishment of Austria as a life sciences location in global competition.
