The funding program aws LISA Life Science Austria is aimed at founders, start-ups, as well as established companies and research institutions in the life sciences sector throughout Austria. It provides tailored grants at every stage of development to promote international market entry, support new establishments, and close financing gaps. Through the instruments aws Preseed and aws Seedfinancing, funding amounts of up to €889,000 (or up to €1,000,000 with a Gender Bonus) can be applied for. A company headquarters in Austria, activity in the life sciences field, and an equity share of at least 10% by shareholders are prerequisites. The funding rate is up to 89% of eligible costs depending on the application situation – with the Gender Bonus, it can increase to 90%. The project duration ranges from 24 to 60 months, with applications submitted continuously via the aws funding manager and decision dates held several times a year.

As a focus program, aws LISA bundles consulting, financing instruments, and international marketing to increase the visibility of Austrian life science stakeholders. In addition to financial support, comprehensive services are offered in the areas of business model development, patent protection, and network building. Through cooperation with all Austrian life science clusters, the program strengthens regional collaboration and permanently positions Austria as an attractive location for research and innovation.
