Description
The grant program for the promotion of the processing of agricultural products supports small and medium-sized enterprises as well as agricultural businesses and associations throughout Austria in advancing investments in innovation, sustainability, quality, and efficiency. Eligible applicants are SMEs with up to 250 employees, an annual turnover of a maximum of EUR 50 million, or a balance sheet total up to EUR 43 million; thematic calls may also include large enterprises. Funded are construction and tangible investments such as machinery, planning, and consulting with an investment volume of at least EUR 400,000. The focus includes, among other things, increasing the degree of refinement, introducing innovative processes, optimizing process technology and traceability systems, as well as measures for resource efficiency and energy savings.
The funding rate ranges between 10% and 30% of eligible expenses, up to a maximum of EUR 1 million per project, with a project duration of up to 24 months. A prerequisite is an application submitted via the aws Fördermanager before project start and the submission of comparative offers (1 offer < EUR 5,000, 2 offers < EUR 10,000, 3 offers > EUR 10,000). Funded acquisitions must remain in the company for at least five years. Ongoing submissions allow for flexible deadlines, whereby in the 2026 call, complete applications must be received between May 1 and December 15 (cut-off dates: April 23 and October 1). Projects are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis; decisions are made within four to six months and are based on budget availability and an evaluation scheme.
