Funding requirements

- Funded investments must be retained for at least 5 years after disbursement

Description
The aws Processing of Agricultural Products program supports investments nationwide by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), agricultural businesses, cooperatives, interest groups, and other associations in Austria. The goal is to increase innovation, sustainability, quality, and efficiency in the processing and marketing of agricultural products. As a non-repayable grant, aws covers 10% to 30% of eligible expenses – with a maximum funding amount of up to €1 million. Ongoing applications are possible until December 31, 2027, and projects should be completed within 24 months. Investments in construction projects, tangible assets such as modern machinery, as well as planning and consulting services are particularly supported. The grant is paid out after project completion and acceptance of the final accounting and must be secured for at least five years.
For an application, projects must have a minimum investment volume of €400,000 and be submitted before commencement. Eligible applicants are SMEs with a maximum of 250 employees, an annual turnover of up to €50 million, or a balance sheet total of up to €43 million. Submission of quotation documents is mandatory: one comparative offer up to €5,000, two up to €10,000, and three for contract values exceeding €10,000. Personnel expenses, acquisition of land, used assets, and investments in primary agricultural production are excluded. Evaluation criteria include the degree of innovation, sustainability aspects, and contribution to the value creation of agricultural products. Required documents are a detailed project description, a financing plan, quotation documents, and proof of compliance with the special guideline effective from September 12, 2024.
