Description

The Basic Funding for Popular Culture of the City of Kempten (Allgäu) offers registered non-profit cultural associations uncomplicated grants to cover basic operating costs over a period of 36 months. The aim is to sustainably strengthen voluntary commitment, preserve cultural traditions, and promote forward-looking forms of youth work. Funding is provided primarily for ongoing basic costs such as venue subsidies for regular events, ongoing expenses for club activities, as well as rent-related grants. Thus, the program makes a significant contribution to the city's basic cultural provision and supports choirs, art, music, theater, as well as customs and historical associations in organizing publicly accessible offerings for all citizens.

Associations based in Kempten (Allgäu), which have been active on a voluntary basis for at least three years, have at least seven members, and charge an annual average fee of ≥ €24, may submit an application every three years. In addition to the online form, proof for determining the financing need, an excerpt from the register of associations, statutes, and financial reports must be submitted. Evaluation is based on the contribution to basic cultural provision, continuity of public events, commitment to youth work, and proof of an uncovered financing need. Applications must be submitted by May 15 of each year. The decision is made after professional review by the cultural administration and consultation in the Committee for Culture and City Theatre. There is no legal entitlement to funding, as the volume of available budget funds is limited. Funding ends with a properly submitted proof of use, which must be submitted within specified deadlines to ensure follow-up grants.
