Basic Subsidies for Regional Companies

The basic subsidies for regional companies support Styrian science and research organizations in which the State of Styria holds a stake, through an annual grant to cover ongoing operational and project costs. Eligible are particularly the business and teaching operations of FH Joanneum GmbH as well as the projects anchored in the annual research program of Joanneum Research Forschungsgesellschaft mbH. The program aims to strengthen the local research infrastructure, promote knowledge transfer, and sustainably establish Styria as a leading research location in Austria. Applications can be submitted continuously, enabling flexible planning and financing of future initiatives.

Only companies from the field of science and research in which the State of Styria holds a stake are eligible for funding. Covered are ongoing operating costs as well as the execution of specific research projects according to the annual program. The administration of the grant is the responsibility of Department 12 Economy, Tourism, Science and Research in the Office of the Styrian State Government. The decision basis is an individual resolution of the state government or a resolution of the state parliament. Close support by specialist advisors ensures that the funding is used efficiently and the intended scientific goals are achieved.
