Description
The Free State of Bavaria supports the development and production of high-quality, culturally or educationally significant, non-violent digital games as well as interactive media projects with game characteristics through the Bavarian Computer Game Funding. A grant subsidy of 50% to 80% of the recognized expenses is made possible, supplemented by flat-rate overhead costs and a contingency reserve (each up to 10%). Both concept and prototype development as well as the production phase are funded; fixed-amount financing is available for first projects, interest-free loans, and partial loans up to 500,000 euros. The goal is to strengthen the Bavarian development and production industry, expand the digital audiovisual location in Europe, and specifically promote young talent in the games industry.
Eligible to apply are private individuals, start-ups, freelancers, and companies of all sizes with headquarters or operations in Bavaria. A prerequisite for submitting an application to FilmFernsehFonds Bayern GmbH is a project that has not yet started, secured overall financing, and an industry-standard, economical budget. Eligibility for funding is assessed based on quality, cultural or educational significance, degree of innovation, economic viability, and contribution to talent promotion. The age rating must be a maximum of 16 years and older, subcontractor costs are limited to 50%, and a reference to the funding is mandatory in the credits. Submissions are accepted continuously and free of charge; mandatory documents include an elevator pitch, project overview, content/vision, and for concept applications, a detailed concept description.
