Bavarian Funding Program for Energy Concepts and Municipal Energy Utilization Plans

The Bavarian funding program for energy concepts and municipal energy utilization plans supports municipal authorities, companies, as well as church and other non-profit institutions based or established in Bavaria in the preparation of well-founded studies on energy savings, efficiency improvements, and the use of renewable energies. Eligible for funding are, among others, energy utilization plans, follow-up energy utilization plans, implementation support, and property-related energy concepts developed by qualified third parties. This measure enables applicants to sustainably transform their energy supply, unlock potential for climate protection, and derive forward-looking recommendations for concrete actions. The continuous submission of funding applications allows for flexible planning within the framework of municipal and operational strategies for decarbonization and resource conservation.

Funding is provided for the preparation of scientifically based concepts in the form of non-repayable grants with a funding rate of 40% to 70%, with certain inter-municipal priorities even receiving an additional bonus of up to 10%. The maximum funding amount is €50,000 per project. Applicants benefit from project-related co-financing by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. The approval process begins with the submission of documents to Bayern Innovativ as the project sponsor, followed by a technical review and the funding decision by official notice. Through the involvement of external experts, it is ensured that both current (AS-IS) and target (TO-BE) states are transparently analyzed and tailored action plans are developed to increase energy efficiency and the use of renewable technologies.
