Bavarian Funding Program for the Development of a Hydrogen Refueling Station Infrastructure

In the Free State of Bavaria, the statewide development of a hydrogen refueling station infrastructure for commercial vehicles, passenger cars, and buses is supported through an attractive grant program. Eligible applicants are legal entities under public and private law as well as natural persons who are economically active in the Free State of Bavaria and can demonstrate an operating facility, branch, or headquarters within the funding area. Eligible investments include the construction and installation of public and non-public refueling stations in the fields of energy efficiency & renewable energies, infrastructure, energy efficiency & climate protection, as well as infrastructure & urban development. The Free State provides grants amounting to 40% to 80% of the eligible costs; small and medium-sized enterprises may claim additional rates. The maximum funding amount per project is €2 million.

A prerequisite for approval is the permanent commissioning and operation of the refueling station for at least six years, as well as the complete supply with renewable or biogenic hydrogen in accordance with the GBER or the sustainability criteria until 31.12.2035. Public facilities must ensure non-discriminatory access, whereas non-public facilities may be used exclusively for internal purposes. The two-stage application procedure begins with the submission of a project outline; following a positive evaluation, an invitation to submit the full funding application is issued.
