Bavarian Environmental Credit Program / Eco Credit

A low-interest loan of up to €2 million supports small and medium-sized enterprises as well as members of the liberal professions based in Bavaria in self-responsible investments in environmental and climate protection that go beyond legal requirements. Funding is provided, for example, for measures related to wastewater treatment, air pollution control, noise and vibration protection, strengthening the circular economy, and increasing resource efficiency, as well as investments in nanotechnology, biotechnology, and bionics. Climate protection-related projects achieving a greenhouse gas reduction of at least 20% as well as projects for soil and groundwater protection are also eligible expenses. The program of the Bavarian State Government covers up to 100% of the eligible costs, thus offering an attractive financing opportunity for environmentally conscious companies.

Applications can be submitted at any time before the start of the respective measure through the applicant’s house bank, which forwards the project to the LfA Förderbank Bayern. Approval requires proof of environmentally relevant improvements – such as an emission reduction of ≥ 20%, noise reduction of ≥ 10 dB, or resource savings of ≥ 20%. Furthermore, the project must commence within one year of approval and comply with the Paris-compatible sector guidelines of the KfW. Costs for land, projects receiving EEG or KWKG funding, and projects that merely shift emissions are not eligible for funding. Through the combination of favorable conditions and comprehensive support, the Ökokredit program enables forward-looking implementation of environmental and climate protection measures exceeding legal requirements in Bavaria.
