Description

The funding program "Support for People with Visual Impairments or Blindness" in Tyrol is aimed at privately residing individuals with recognized visual or deafblind impairments. The goal is needs-oriented support addressing social, health-related, and everyday practical issues. Up to 100 hours of accompaniment per year are funded over a maximum period of 60 months. The accompaniment is provided on a mobile, individual basis and includes the teaching of orientation, mobility, and communication strategies, as well as Braille, assistive device counseling, and the involvement of relatives. The legal basis is the Tyrolean Participation Act (§ 7 para. 1 and 2 lit. b TTHG). Applications can be submitted at any time once all prerequisites (main residence in Tyrol, Austrian citizenship or equivalence, proof of disability, and prospects of strengthening social participation) are met. The service is granted as a subsidy without a fixed deadline and requires the active participation of the applicants.

Interested parties can obtain the required application form according to the TTHG as well as proof of disability from the Department of Inclusion and Child and Youth Welfare of the State of Tyrol. The individually tailored accompaniment aims to promote empowerment, enable social participation, and increase independence in daily life. Through close cooperation with qualified experts, proven scientific methods and barrier-free concepts are implemented. Transparent documentation and regular evaluation ensure the quality of the service. Further information on funding modalities and application documents is available via the Citizen Service Portal of the State of Tyrol.
