Description
Within the framework of the provisions of the Tuberculosis Act (§ 37 et seq.), the federal government in Vienna assumes all costs of treating diagnosed tuberculosis, provided there is a confirmed sign of activity. As a direct grant benefit, 100% of medical services, hospital stays, and medication therapies are covered, provided there is no other cost coverage through social insurance, a health care institution, or private health insurance. The funding is exclusively aimed at privately affected individuals with confirmed active tuberculosis and seeks to maintain health, contain the spread of infections, and ensure uninterrupted medical care. Applications can be submitted at any time without a budget ceiling for the funding period.
To apply, an informal application must be submitted to the competent district administrative authority, supplemented by a medical certificate confirming the diagnosis and proof of activity. Furthermore, proof must be provided that no service providers such as social insurance carriers or private insurers have covered the treatment costs to date. After reviewing all documents, full cost coverage is provided directly by the federal government. Due to the indefinite nature of this funding, patients or their relatives can continuously submit the required documents and benefit from needs-based support. The implementation of this measure significantly contributes to health prevention and the social protection of those affected.
