Contributions to the Institute for Computer Science in Vorarlberg (ICV-HSG) support the operation of a cross-company research structure focused on Embedded Sensing Systems and Big Data Infrastructures. The goal is to expand and strengthen innovative teaching, research, and continuing education activities in the Vorarlberg region. Funding is provided over a period of ten years (01.02.2024–31.01.2034) with an annual total volume of €2.5 million. Funds are disbursed upon application and support the development of new technologies, scientific collaboration, as well as knowledge transfer between industry and academia. Ongoing evaluations after five years ensure targeted use of funds and the achievement of impact objectives in terms of a sustainable research infrastructure.
The funding is aimed at public institutions and companies based or operating in Vorarlberg, including Illwerke VKW AG, the University of St. Gallen, and other cooperation partners from the regional economy. Funding prerequisites include the implementation of teaching, research, and continuing education projects in the thematic focus areas of Embedded Sensing Systems and Big Data Infrastructures, as well as the annual submission of corresponding performance reports. An application for the disbursement of the annual contribution must be submitted each year by January 31 to the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government – Department of General Economic Affairs. This funding initiative makes a sustainable contribution to improving the cross-border research landscape in Vorarlberg.
