Contributions to Employee Benefits for Recipients of Continuing Education Allowance under the AlVG

Since January 1, 2013, the federal government has been providing contributions to occupational employee provision for individuals receiving training allowance under an educational leave according to § 11 AVRAG. The social insurance benefit is paid as a non-repayable grant from unemployment insurance funds directly to the employee provision fund. This measure aims to strengthen the social security of training leave and promote labor market participation. As the budget is not limited and is granted continuously, it supports educational phases throughout the entire federal territory and contributes to reducing unemployment.

Funding is provided to private individuals who have agreed on an educational leave pursuant to the Austrian Employment Contract Law Adaptation Act and have received training allowance for this purpose. A separate application does not need to be submitted within a deadline, as the benefits are processed automatically upon proof of receipt of the training allowance. The Employment Service (AMS) is responsible for processing, while the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection exercises technical supervision. This sustainable support offers participants the opportunity to be financially secured during their educational period while simultaneously focusing on their professional development.
