Description
The Bernhard Heiliger Scholarship honors, in memory of Bernhard Heiliger’s many years of teaching at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin, outstanding project ideas by young sculptors each year. Within a limited call for applications, graduates from both Berlin art universities are selected and receive a project-related funding package that covers the costs for workspace, equipment, and materials. The allocated funds enable the scholarship holders to realize independent sculpture projects and offer a valuable platform for showcasing their artistic work within the Berlin cultural scene through a public presentation at the renowned Kunsthaus Dahlem.
Interested graduates can submit their application documents once a year; deadlines are announced by the Bernhard Heiliger Foundation as part of a limited call. The scholarship not only covers financial expenses but also promotes intensive exchange with expert jurors as well as presentation in an established exhibition venue. The funding is explicitly aimed at young sculptors who, after completing their studies at the Berlin University of the Arts or the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin, are ready to implement an independent project and further develop their sculptural practice. Dates and details for application submission are regularly published on the Bernhard Heiliger Foundation’s website.
