Description
The pollination grant from the City of Villach supports emerging beekeeping associations in the state of Carinthia and makes a valuable contribution to biodiversity, energy efficiency, and climate protection. With a subsidy of 10 euros per bee colony, comprehensive pollination of insect-pollinated plants within the municipal area is ensured, and the preservation of the diverse cultural landscape is sustainably strengthened. The program targets organizations from environmental/nature conservation as well as agriculture and rural development and recognizes the important role of beekeepers as experts in ecological cycles. The annual funding cycle until October 15 guarantees continuity and promotes long-term commitment from the associations.
Only non-profit beekeeping associations in Villach, represented by the chairman or chairwoman, are eligible for funding. A prerequisite for the grant is the proper registration and labeling of the beehives in accordance with § 5 of the Carinthian Beekeeping Act, as well as the restriction to locations within the city area of Villach. For the application, a list of beekeepers with the number of bee colonies as well as the annual report on the board’s discharge must be submitted. The decision is made by the Department of Plant Law and Environmental Protection at Villach City Hall, with the funding volume managed transparently. This funding offer creates optimal conditions for sustainable beekeeping and equally strengthens the local cultural landscape.
