Description
The Bielefeld Integration Award annually honors outstanding commitment to the integration of people with a migration background in Bielefeld and is endowed with a total of €10,000. The award will be presented on November 20, 2025, in the council chamber of the city and recognizes initiatives, projects, as well as individuals who have made a special contribution to democratic coexistence, social cohesion, and participation. Under the motto “Passionately committed – against exclusion and for cohesion,” the laureates are selected by a jury composed of representatives from the Solidarity Foundation against Unemployment and Poverty, the Bielefeld Integration Council, and the City of Bielefeld. Evaluation criteria include the impact on integration, the strengthening of democratic values in everyday life, and the sustainability of the commitment.
The award is aimed at civil society actors such as non-profit organizations, associations, and private individuals from North Rhine-Westphalia who overcome social divisions with creative projects, sustainable networks, or low-threshold offerings—whether in neighborhoods, schools, clubs, or the digital space. Funding requirements include outstanding commitment to integration in Bielefeld as well as contributions to promoting democratic coexistence and social cohesion. To apply, the completed application form (PDF) must be submitted as part of the online procedure. The Bielefeld Integration Award sends a signal of solidarity and actively involves civil society in shaping a diverse and open urban community.
