Description

The Dietmar Hopp Foundation supports the holistic redesign of schoolyards within the framework of the program "Education through Movement – Movement-Friendly Schoolyards" for non-profit recognized school authorities in Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, and Rhineland-Palatinate. The goal is to create learning and play spaces that firmly integrate movement as a core component of both classroom and break culture. Concepts are supported that further develop the outdoor area into a public, socially open movement space and actively involve students in the planning process. Funding is provided in the form of grants and is based on the individual needs as well as the applicants' own contribution. The Foundation accompanies the projects throughout the entire implementation phase through open knowledge and experience exchange to ensure sustainable and innovative promotion of movement.

Interested school authorities must demonstrate an evident need for renewal of their outdoor area as well as provide proof of the integration of movement into everyday school life or a planned implementation. The break area should ideally be publicly accessible to promote social openness. Applications can be submitted at any time and are evaluated based on the following criteria: urgency of the redesign, embedding of a movement culture in everyday school life, orientation towards the common good through opening of the area, and participation of learners in the planning process. Required documents include a needs description with photos, the movement-educational teaching concept, a project outline, a rough cost estimate, and contact details of the responsible persons. Upon receipt of the complete application, applicants will receive a confirmation of receipt and individual feedback on the next steps.
