Description

The educational funding of the RAG Foundation is aimed at non-profit and public institutions in the former hard coal mining regions of North Rhine-Westphalia and Saarland as well as in Ibbenbüren. With an annual funding volume of around €14 million, long-term projects along the entire education chain are supported – from early childhood initiatives in daycare centers, through innovative school programs, to training and scholarship offers for students. The goal is to strengthen equal opportunities and to sustainably support children, adolescents, and young adults from non-academic families on their educational path.

As a grant model, this funding opportunity enables flexible project design in six categories: daycare projects, school projects, training programs, scholarship programs, STEM initiatives, and extracurricular education. A location in the mining regions of the Ruhr area, Saarland, or Ibbenbüren is a prerequisite. Applications can be submitted at any time, allowing for individually planned funding start and end dates. Through close cooperation with local partners and scientific evaluations, educational offerings are developed that achieve sustainable impact and optimally prepare young talents for future challenges.
