Description
The Brede Foundation in Bremen annually awards financial support to particularly committed students from the fields of engineering, natural sciences, economics, and ecology. Both undergraduate students and, in exceptional cases, master's students enrolled at a public or state-recognized university in Germany – preferably in Bremen – are eligible for funding. Scholarships can be applied for domestic and international studies, scientific project work, internships, or study projects. Requirements include consistently good to excellent academic performance, a convincing overall profile including social aspects and an international orientation, as well as the formal completeness of the submitted documents. Applications must be submitted by the end of November of the previous year for the summer semester and by the end of May of the current year for the winter semester. Necessary documents include, among others, the application form, a financial plan, a letter of motivation, a CV in tabular form, a study progress report, academic references, certified copies of university entrance and degree certificates, as well as a certificate of enrollment.
With its broad-based funding concept, the Brede Foundation aims to support outstanding talents, strengthen the next generation of scientists, and enable forward-looking research projects. In particular, students with demonstrated commitment and limited family resources benefit from individual support. The selection is carried out through a multi-stage awarding process, in which, in addition to excellent grades, social engagement and international orientation play a central role. The goal is to provide young researchers with a stable financial foundation so that projects and stays abroad can be realized without financial obstacles. The foundation values transparent decision-making and informs all applicants promptly about the outcome of the selection process.
