Description
The Broadband Top-Up Funding BBA 2030 of the State of Salzburg specifically supports the expansion of gigabit-capable passive access networks in underserved regions. Investments in Next-Generation Access networks (Access) and Open-Access networks (OpenNet) are funded with the aim of doubling existing download and upload speeds. The funding volume amounts to up to 40% of eligible costs for OpenNet projects and up to 25% for Access initiatives. Eligible applicants are companies, cooperatives, public institutions, and other legal entities that have already concluded a funding contract under the federal programs BBA2030:Access or BBA2030:OpenNet with the FFG. Submissions must be made within the period of the respective federal funding, no later than three days before the deadline.
The grant is provided as a non-repayable subsidy for project costs of passive physical network infrastructure and is administered in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Finance and the FFG. Applicants submit copies of the funding application filed with the FFG and the concluded nationwide funding contract, as well as a KML file of the expansion project. The decision on the exact funding intensity is made based on the available state funds and the evaluation results of the federal government. Since funds are limited annually, there is no legal entitlement to approval. Thus, the measure makes a decisive contribution to digitalization, strengthens Smart Cities & regions, and promotes a high-performance infrastructure in Salzburg.
