Description

With the Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings – Heating Support for Companies – Non-Residential Buildings, KfW, on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, supports companies, cooperatives, non-profit organizations, public institutions, and private individuals nationwide in converting existing non-residential buildings to climate-friendly heating technology. Funding is provided, among others, for solar thermal systems, biomass heating systems, efficiently operated heat pumps, fuel cell heating systems, innovative hydrogen-capable systems, as well as connection to building or heat networks. The funding rate amounts to up to 35% of eligible costs (30% basic funding plus 5% efficiency bonus). Applications can be submitted continuously via the customer portal “Meine KfW” as long as budget funds are available; there is no legal entitlement to funding. Prerequisites include, among others, a non-residential building at least five years old, professional optimization of the heating distribution system including hydraulic balancing, a commercial confirmation for the application (gBzA) by an energy efficiency expert listed in the expert directory, as well as a delivery or service contract subject to a suspensive or resolutive condition of the funding approval.

Eligible expenses include the acquisition, installation, and grid connections of new heating systems, provisional technology in case of defects, professional planning and construction supervision, acoustic planning, as well as preparatory and restorative environmental measures. Self-built systems, prototypes, or used systems are not eligible for aid. The project duration is limited to 36 months from approval. Applicants must be registered and authorized representatives in the “Meine KfW” portal; for joint representation arrangements, a power of attorney is required. Documentation includes invoices, register excerpts or articles of association as proof of representation, gBzA, delivery/service contract, and for funding amounts of €15,000 or more, proof of payment to the company account. The funding accelerates the transition to efficient heating systems and makes a central contribution to climate protection and energy efficiency in commercial real estate.
