Description
The Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings – Municipalities – Grant (BEG-KK) is a nationwide grant program of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) in cooperation with the KfW Banking Group. It is aimed at municipal authorities as well as subordinate municipal subsidiaries that hold municipal property or a hereditary building right on buildings. The objective of the funding is the significant reduction of energy consumption and CO₂ emissions through energy-efficient new construction and renovation measures. Investment costs for efficiency measures, building technical systems, as well as adjustments to heating and cooling systems are financially supported, provided that the technical minimum requirements of the efficiency house classes (EE, NH class) are met.
For a successful application, municipalities must submit the application via the KfW grant portal and provide an official site plan, a detailed construction description with technical evidence, as well as proof of municipal ownership. The evaluation criteria include compliance with efficiency requirements, the CO₂ savings potential, and the quality and scope of the planning measures. Planning and consulting costs, retroactive expenses, as well as interest and repayment portions are not eligible for funding. Applications can be submitted continuously until December 31, 2026. Through this continuous funding opportunity, municipalities have the chance to sustainably modernize their building infrastructure and make an important contribution to climate protection.
